What's Powerball

Powerball is a popular lottery game in the United States known for its large jackpots. Here are the basic rules of Powerball.

Rules and Gameplay

  • Players select five main numbers from a range of 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from a range of 1 to 26.
  • During the drawing, five main numbers and one Powerball number are randomly selected.
  • To win the jackpot, all five main numbers and the Powerball number must match the drawn numbers. However, there are various other prize levels for matching different combinations of numbers.
  • Players have the option to choose the "Power Play" feature, which can multiply their non-jackpot winnings by up to 10 times.

Jackpot and Prizes

Powerball is known for its substantial jackpots, often reaching hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars when there are no winners over several drawings.

Prizes are determined based on the combination of main numbers and the Powerball number matched. The Power Play option can significantly increase non-jackpot prize amounts.

Drawing Frequency and Ticket Purchase

Powerball drawings occur 3 times a week, usually on Mondays and Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Tickets can be purchased from various locations across the United States. Some states also offer the option to buy tickets online.
